The Adventuress Runs Aground ~ Assisted by Tugs
According to the Coast Guard the 133 ft sailing ship the Adventuress ran aground around noon today in Wasp Pass off Orcas Island. The Adventuress was headed for the tall ships festival in Victoria where she planned to celebrate her 95th birthday. The Washington State Ferry, Sealth helped remove 27 people from the historic ship. Not taking on water, the plan is to float her off at high tide.
On her first trip, she sailed all the way down to and through the
Straits of Magellan and then up to arctic waters.
